Based in Elmhurst, Illinois, Blac Inc. has grown to become a premier valve, actuator, fabrication, part, and service equipment design company for the petrochemical, power, and pipeline industries. Blac Inc. uses SolidWorks 3D CAD Software to design, manufacture, and maintain electro-hydraulic actuators servicing refineries and power plants all over the world.

Since 1990, Blac Inc. has specialized in FCCU slide plug and butterfly actuators as well as electro-hydraulic linear and quarter-turn value actuators and damper actuators. The company's commitment to embrace advanced design technologies has resulted in many innovations.

To meet the anticipated increase in demand, management at Blac evaluated their product development environment, focusing primarily on their drawing process. Blac concluded they needed to upgrade to a CAD system that was more PC-compatible, affordable, and easy-to-use. After evaluating several 3D CAD packages, the company selected SolidWorks 3D for its integrated capabilities for re-using design data, and the modeling and surfacing capabilities.

In addition to helping Blac Inc. with its new product throughput, SolidWorks software allows the company's designers to conduct more design iterations on a product before releasing it to production. SolidWorks also provides Blac with 3D visualization, detailed drawings, full-blown bill of materials, and important product data quickly for every custom order.
