From lighting and grips to license plates and bike covers, Kuryakyn Holdings is a high-profile specialty bike part producer for motorcycles. Kuryakyn is a prestigious manufacturing and engineering design firm with an esteemed reputation for communicating a modern view of the world through its unique designs. Each Kuryakyn product starts as someone’s great idea or vision of function and is then transformed into art.
The firms designers use CAD software and until recently, designers relied on expensive out of house SLA parts that were very fragile. Kuryakyn became concerned about the strength of their prototypes and needed to find a resource that was both more durable and less expensive.
After an extensive analysis of technologies, Kuryakyn Holdings selected the Dimension 3D Printer to create functional models out of heavy-duty ABS plastic. Within six weeks Kuryakyn saw the machine pay for itself and their time to market period was reduced drastically. The Dimension 3D Printer Kuryakyn bought put them a step above their competitors.
“Our designs vary within themselves and we were spending a lot of money on SLA prototypes. The Dimension 3D Printer takes four hours to make a part whereas outsourcing would take at least seven days. It has allowed us to multiply the amount of products we send to the market during a given time period.”
