Jeff Osman has more than 18 years of experience in the mechanical CAD industry. As the SolidWorks Area Technical Manager he is responsible for managing all technical aspects for SolidWorks product lines in the Midwest Area. Osman has been with SolidWorks for 12 years. Prior to joining SolidWorks, he was a senior technical manager with Microcadam, a division of IBM. Additionally, Osman has held several manufacturing positions with companies like Processed Plastics, Plano Molding, and Furnas/Siemens Electric. He attended the University of Illinois for mechanical engineering and completed a full mold making apprenticeship through the Tool and Manufacturing Association. |

Dr. John Mirth, Ph.D., P.E.
Professor of Mechanical Engineering

Dr. John Mirth has both a Master's and Doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota were he focused on computational design of mechanisms, computer science, and computer graphics. Dr. Mirth has been engaged in computer simulation and modeling since 1985 when he began working with CAD/CAM at Martin Marietta Aerospace Company.
Dr. Mirth has taught mechanical engineering at the University of Wisconsin – Platteville for the past 14 years, and previously taught at the University of Denver for six years. Dr. Mirth's teaching career includes providing instruction in a variety of CAD and Simulation programs, including SolidWorks and Simulation. In addition to teaching courses in solid modeling and computer-aided engineering, Dr. Mirth also teaches a variety of courses related to the design and analysis of mechanisms and machinery. |

Matthew is currently a Chief Engineer at P&H Mining Equipment in Milwaukee, WI leading a New Product Development Project after having worked with them for several years as a consultant. He has broad experience in leading large-scale engineering projects in mining, automotive, defense, and machinery sectors. He has particular experience in managing projects that involve interaction with sub-contractors, technical partners, and consultants with cross-functional responsibility in engineering, business development, and technical marketing. Matthew is also an instructor in Mechanical Engineering at the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) and teaches classes in Numerical Methods, Mechanisms, Finite Element Analysis, and also advises the schools' Formula Hybrid team. |

Justin has been working in the mechanical design, manufacturing, and CAD administration industry for 16 years. Currently at P&H Mining, he is part of the Engineering Support group providing SolidWorks assistance to other users and performing CAD model checking ensuring that users are following modeling procedures and standards. In the past Justin has taught AutoCAD and Pro/E part-time at WCTC, worked as project lead on SolidWorks implementations, and worked extensively as a mechanical designer. Justin is CSWP, and has been using SolidWorks exclusively for 7 years. |

Ray Proeber has been working in the tool and die industry for 34 years. Starting out as a tool and die maker and moving into a position as Tool Department Manager and eventually Vice President of a metal stamping company, Ray has learned the ins and outs of the business firsthand. The die design business that he started 10 years ago no longer provides die design services, but rather has evolved into a software development company that sells, trains and supports Logopress3 and FTI software. Ray has been using SolidWorks since 2002 and has been a CSWP since 2002. |

Sam comes from a manufacturing and design background, and has been using 3D CAD modelers as a Product Designer since 1981. While working at Motorola in the mid-80's, he was tasked with devising and instituting an in-house CAD training program, and also became involved in application support. He has also taught CAD part- and full-time at the collegiate level, and has worked in application engineering and training team leadership roles at CAD resellers since 1987. He brings this combination of experience into his current pre- and post-sales support position, and in training customers believes in not just showing "how" but explaining "why." |
